I enjoyed your video. I must say I have a better prospective of your thoughts and goals.
What is your proposed marathon pace? I understand a lot of what you were saying here as I have many of the same thoughts and concerns.
I too started running late in life and ran my first marathon 3 years after starting. Now I am training for a 50K trail race....my goal is merely to finish.
You didn't mention your post marathon running goals....I suspect you are now a full fledged runner and you will continue to run.
I have been training with a primary goal of finishing the marathon but my target pace is a 10:00 pace. Though I think I can run it faster based on 5h times I would rather finish strong and healthy and then go for a better time for my second marathon. I am now hooked on running and since I don't want to be a "One Hit Wonder" I plan on doing at least one more. I have entered the lottery for the NYC but if that doesn't work out then I might do a local marathon in the fall. I am planning on running the Portland Maine half next year to break 2 hours and the Bridgeton Maine 4 on the 4th.
I like the video updates. Partially because they are something different, but honestly because sometimes I am just too lazy to read. I'm sure they are a bit easier for you too.
Nice work on the MP+15 run. I think that if you can hold that for 22 miles you will have no trouble with the full 26.2.
Thanks, I am thinking of taking the video camera for the Boston Marathon to record certain sections for the blog and to save for my son when he gets older.
A 40 year old, Type 2 Diabetic, with ADD, with a great family and a demanding bulldog name "Gracie". I am a "marathoner" and I continue to learn, make mistakes and move forward while enjoying the journey.
